Armed police called to Cricklade after man posts selfie with gun to his head

Armed police officers were sent to Cricklade in the early hours of this morning after a man posted a photograph of him holding a pistol on social media.

Wiltshire Police received a call from a member of the public reporting the post on Facebook at around 11.40pm. The photograph showed a male holding the firearm to his head in a selfie.

A caption alongside the photograph said: “Come and get me nothing 2 lose”.

Concerned for the man’s welfare, firearms officers attended an address in High Street. Neighbours were woken to officers shouting “armed police, open the door” at around 2am today.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “At around 11.40pm yesterday we received a call from a member of the public concerning the welfare of a man who lived in the Cricklade area.

“Enquiries were carried out and the man was located safe and well.”
