Man arrested as police raid huge cannabis factory in Swindon town centre

A man has been arrested when police raided a home in Swindon town centre yesterday morning, discovering around 1000 cannabis plants inside.

Police officers attended the address in Westcott Place and found that the building had been adapted to produce the Class B drug with a full hydroponic system in place.

Whilst the full extent of the drugs factory is not yet assessed, Wiltshire Police have estimated that there are approximately 1000 plants at the large operation.

Jetmir Memia, 28 from Swindon was arrested and charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis; he appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning, 8 June.

Enquiries are ongoing at the property and a thorough investigation is underway.
