Man rescued from rooftop after suffering ‘significant injury’ pruning tree

A man’s been rescued from a rooftop by firefighters after suffering a ‘significant injury’ whilst pruning a tree.

Fire crews from Westlea, Swindon, Chippenham and Trowbridge stations were at the scene in Bath Road, Royal Wootton Bassett, at midday.

The aerial platform appliance from Swindon was sent to the incident, but wasn’t utilised.

The casualty, who had climbed onto the roof of a single-storey outbuilding in his garden in order to access a tall tree. Whilst trimming the tree, he fell and seriously injured himself.

The patient was taken to hospital by land ambulance. The exact nature of his injuries are unknown.
