Police helicopter called in as suspects flee crashed car during Swindon pursuit

The police helicopter was called in to help officers locate the occupants of a car which crashed outside a pub during a pursuit in Swindon this morning.

A Mini is understood to have collided with a tree and overturned near the Woodlands Edge in Midwinter Close, Peatmoor Village Centre, at around 4.30am.

Two occupants of the vehicle – which failed to stop for roads policing offices – fled the scene.

A police dog (PD) was tasked, tracking the suspects from the crash scene. A taxi was seen approximately 150 metres ahead of PD Bree as she hunted them down.

The National Police Air Service helicopter followed the taxi into Royal Wootton Bassett. From the sky, officers talked in their ground colleagues and two people were detained in the south of the town.
