22-year-old woman appears in court accused of setting fire to council house

A 22-year-old woman will face a crown court judge after being charged with setting fire to her family’s council house in Swindon last November.

As first reported by Wiltshire 999s, emergency services were called to the serious fire at a property in Frobisher Drive, Walcot, at around 3.30pm on 7 November.

Savannah Jane Oldacre, also known as Savannah Taylor, of Abbey View Road in Moredon, is charged with two offences:

– intending to destroy or damage property or being reckless as to whether property would be destroyed or damaged and intending by the damage to endanger the life of another person

– intending to destroy or damage property and being reckless as to whether property would be destroyed or damaged and being reckless as to whether the life of another person would be endangered

The house damaged by fire in the arson attack is owned by Swindon Borough Council.

Appearing at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday, the case was sent to Swindon Crown Court due to the serious nature of the charges. Miss Oldacre will next attend court on 4 September.
