Man remanded in custody after allegedly crashing into horsebox in Calne pursuit

A man accused of failing to stop for police before crashing into a horsebox containing a horse has been remanded in custody following his first appearance in court.

31-year-old Julian Drew, of no fixed abode, appeared before Swindon magistrates charged with dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and possession of a class A drug on Wednesday.

It follows an incident on Friday 31 July whereby a Vauxhall Zafira made off at speed from roads policing officers on the A3102 heading into Calne. The car then collided with a horsebox in Wessington Park before the driver attempted to flee on foot but was detained and arrested.
