Police investigate report of ‘distressed’ woman being forced into car in Swindon

Police are investigating reports of a woman being forced into a car whilst screaming “let me out” in a residential street in Swindon this morning.

An eyewitness claims to have seen a man driving a black 4×4 pulling over in the middle of Manton Street, Rodbourne, at around 11am and shouting at a woman whilst pushing her into a passenger seat.

The doors were locked before the man drove off with the woman described as being ‘clearly distressed’, crying and repeatedly screaming “let me out”.

UPDATE: 2.30PM: A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Shortly after 11am we received a call from a member of the public who was concerned about the welfare of a woman in a vehicle in the Old Town area of Swindon.

“We quickly carried out enquiries to identify the woman and make contact with her. We determined that all was in order and no further police action was required.

“However, this call to us was made with good intent and we would always urge people to report suspicious incidents to us”
