Crime scene in place as police investigate serious assault in Swindon

A crime scene is in place In a residential street in Swindon this morning following a serious assault.

Emergency services were called to the incident in Affleck Close, Toothill, at around 1am.

Police officers are guarding a small car park at the bottom of the close. Within the cordon is a bicycle and a screwdriver.

A 16-year-old girl suffered a wound to her hand and was taken to the Great Western Hospital, and an 18-year-old man suffered injuries to his face. He was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary Hospital. Both are described as suffering potentially life-changing injuries.

Officers conducted extensive searches and enquiries at the scene immediately after the incident and an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of Section 18 grevious bodily harm with intent. He was taken to Gablecross custody where he remains.
