Cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit by milk tanker

A cyclist suffered life-threatening head injuries in a collision in Chippenham early this morning.

At around 12.35am, a man in his 30s was riding a Carrera pedal cycle along the A350 near to the Plough crossroads towards the town when he was involved in a collision with the driver of a Renault arctic milk tanker travelling in the same direction.

The cyclist was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with a life-threatening head injury. The driver of the milk tanker was not injured.

The road was closed this morning for six hours while the collision investigators attended the scene and the incident was cleared.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, including anyone who may have been driving in the area with a dash cam fitted to their vehicle.

“Call 101 and quote log number 6 of July 6, 2020.”
