Ermin Street was closed between Kingsdown Road and Windbrook Meadow whilst firefighters from two stations – Swindon and Stratton – began work to cut the woman free from the vehicle but she managed to free herself before they could fully remove the roof.

A roads policing officer confirmed to Wiltshire 999s that the causality was taken to hospital as a precaution and isn’t believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

The road reopened at around 2.15pm.
