An elderly couple were left ‘upset and distressed’ after dog poo was thrown at their door.

Earlier this month, police in Calne launched an appeal to identify a group of teenagers they believed to have been involved in the criminal damage case in Bowood View on 15 June.

Within days, the suspects were identified and action was taken against the youth who threw the poo.

“This was a particularly upsetting and distressing incident for the elderly residents involved”, local PCSO Mark Cook commented at the time of the initial identity appeal.

On Monday 22 June, police visited the home of the offender where he admitted committing the offence. He was dealt with using a Community Resolution which was agreed in line with the victims’ wishes.

PCSO Cook said: “We would like to thank everyone who contacted us in regards to this matter. This was a distressing and upsetting incident to happen to the elderly resident.

“This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated in Calne, we will always investigate matters which cause the most harm to our community members. We will, where possible, always seek to take the most appropriate action against individuals involved in matters such as these in line with the victims’ wishes.

“Historically, Calne suffered with its share of youth related Anti-social Behaviour. It is important that we always take steps to challenge this sort of behaviour, so we do not return to those times.”
