Paedophile former nurse, 69, dies after catching coronavirus in hospital

A paedophile from Chippenham has died after being taken to hospital a month ago.

Former nurse Paul Stevens, 69, was due to appear before the court charged with two counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order but the case was closed due to his death.

It’s said the man amassed more than seven years of prison sentences in relation to offences against children in the past ten years, the Swindon Advertiser reported.

In his last offence, committed in 2017, he was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison after admitting to three counts of possessing and two of distributing indecent images of children.

He was released from prison, returning to his Chelwood Close first floor flat in October last year but neighbours say he hadn’t been seen coming-and-going for the past month.

Wiltshire 999s understands he was taken to hospital for heart problems but died after contracting coronavirus while admitted.
