Man arrested on suspicion of kidnap and assault after domestic incident

UPDATED 5PM: A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, kidnap and a number of other offences after an domestic incident in Salisbury this afternoon.

Police were called to a report of a woman – who is known to the suspect – being assaulted in a vehicle near St Paul’s Roundabout at just after midday.

It is believed a man, who was a passenger in a Nissan Micra had dragged the woman from a white BMW and assaulted her inside his vehicle before the man then drove off in the BMW before crashing in Devizes Road.

He was soon after located in Ashley Road by officers and arrested. A subsequent search of an address linked to the man found a quantity of cocaine.

The man, from the Bulford area, has been arrested on suspicion of ABH, common assault, aggravated taking without consent, kidnap and possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.

Following his arrest, the man was taken to hospital as a precaution and has since been taken to custody in Melksham for further questioning.

The victim was also taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries.

Sgt Keith Jackson said: “Firstly, I’d like to thank the member of the public who initially alerted us to this incident as it was taking place inside a vehicle – their quick-thinking enabled us to attend the scene and quickly locate the suspect and safeguard the victim.

“I know a number of members of the public may have witnessed some of this incident as it took place – if this was you and you have not already spoken to police, please get in touch. Also, if you have any dash cam footage please also call us on 101 and quote log number 122 of today.”
