Dog escapes after police raid houses, find drugs and arrest two people

A dog escaped a house when two drugs warrants were carried out by police in Swindon this morning.

Sky, thought to be a pitbull-cross, got free from one of the properties when police broke down the front door whilst carrying out the raid in Welcome Avenue at around 8am.

A quantity of suspected class A and B drugs were located inside the addresses as well as cash, and two people – a man and a woman both aged in their 60s – were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to supply.

Sergeant Richard Fay of the Swindon Central South CPT Neighbourhoods Team, said: “Despite the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are continuing to take a hard stance on those who cause most harm in our communities.

“Our actions today were the result of our local residents speaking out against those who commit crime and anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods, and I hope these arrests provide some reassurance to the local community that we will listen and we will take action.

“Please continue to speak to us and tell us what is happening in your community.”

The two arrested remain in custody in Gablecross.
