Major search operation underway to locate Corsham man with dementia

Wiltshire Search and Rescue has been called in to coordinate a major operation to locate a missing 74-year-old man with dementia in the north of the county.

Dozens of volunteers are tonight involved in the search for John Roberts, who went missing from his home in Corsham, near Chippenham, at some point early this afternoon.

Armed officers – also trained UAV pilots – were parked in Queens Avenue earlier today operating a drone over Corsham in a bid to locate him. Their efforts were unsuccessful.

The police helicopter could be seen circling the skies above the town and surrounding areas. It also spent some time over Chippenham during its search.

Anyone who may have seen John or anyone who may have information about his whereabouts should call police on 101 and quote log number 170 of today, or 999 in an emergency.
