Police appeal after woman sexually assaulted in Salisbury city centre

A woman has been sexually assaulted in Salisbury city centre.

Wiltshire Police have tonight launched an urgent appeal for witnesses after the victim came forward about the attack which took place earlier this week.

The incident happened around 11pm on Monday 8 May in the New Canal area.

The victim is currently receiving support from specialist officers.

Det Sgt Greg Fergusson said: “We are trying to establish the circumstances around this incident and need the public to help us with our enquiries.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in this area of Salisbury around this time on Monday night.

“Also, if you saw anyone acting suspiciously in this area or noticed anything else out of the ordinary, please contact me.

“If you have any information to report to police you can speak to any officer on patrol in the city centre or call us on 101.”
