Police helicopter involved in manhunt after wanted Swindon suspect spotted

A police manhunt was launched late last night after a suspect was spotted in north Swindon.

The man, 19-year-old Isaiah Tafari, is a suspect in two separate assault cases but has so far remained on the run from local police for more than two weeks.

At around 10pm last night (Saturday), police raced to the Akers Way area of the town following a sighting. The police helicopter was called in to assist officers on the ground, who were seen in large numbers searching Pinehurst and Moredon. The suspect remains outstanding.

The assaults took place in April, with police appealing for information on his whereabouts in April.

Tafari is described as black, of medium build, around six foot tall with dark hair.

A spokesperson Wiltshire Police said: “If you see him or you know where he is, please do not approach him, but call us on 999 with a description of him and his direction of travel.

“Also, you can give information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
