Police tell locals to ‘go home’ after they ventured out to look at air ambulance

Police were forced to tell local residents to return home as they ventured out to view Wiltshire Air Ambulance after it landed for a medical emergency yesterday afternoon.

Despite the coronavirus lockdown, at least a dozen people in several groups were seen gathering near the helicopter in the Marsh Road area of Hilperton Marsh near Trowbridge at 2.30pm.

Critical care paramedics were attending a suspected cardiac arrested in Marshmead.

An elderly couple in Horse Road were directed away from the air ambulance by officers, as were two women with their children who were stood nearby discussing it.

The locals were reminded of the coronavirus regulations in place restricting non-essential travel, as at least four police units patrolled the area asking residents to return home.
