Bomb squad called in as Devizes residents discover explosive device

A road was closed in Devizes this afternoon following the discovered of an explosive device.

Police officer were called to an address in Southbroom Road at around 3.30pm, after the residents discovered a World War Two hand grenade.

As a precaution, the item was moved away from the property and the road was closed to traffic.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team determined the grenade was no longer viable.

The road was reopened at around 5pm.
