Shoppers sent away as air ambulance medics treat casualty outside supermarket

Dozens of shoppers who had been queuing outside a Swindon supermarket have been sent away after an air ambulance was called in to provide critical care to a casualty.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed in Mannington Recreation Ground at around 9.30am this morning, as they respond to the serious medical incident outside Sainsbury’s.

The Bridgemead store is now closed to customers and staff were unable to confirm when it would reopen, but it’s expected to remain closed for at least a couple of hours.

South Western Ambulance Service have two rapid response vehicles, two ambulance and a paramedic officer at the scene.

Store staff and police can be seen holding large while sheets around the casualty as 999 crews work.
