Police stop over 100 vehicles at west Wiltshire lockdown checkpoint

More than 100 vehicles were stopped at a checkpoint in west Wiltshire this afternoon.

Police officers conducted the coronavirus lockdown checks in Boreham Road, Warminster, to ensure everyone on the road were travelling within the Government’s rules.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said the checkpoint was set up “to ensure people’s journeys were essential and they were following the guidelines in regards to COVID-19”.

“The traffic was relatively light and we would like to thank you all for playing your part”, they added.

In total 107 vehicles were stopped and the drivers spoken to about their outing.
