Police act swiftly after calls to person on the railway near Trowbridge

Trains were halted for a short time tonight as police responded to reports of a person on the railway.

Officers from Wiltshire Police, alongside the British Transport Police, were called to a bridge just outside Trowbridge at around 7.30pm.

Network Rail also mobilised it’s operations team to the scene, but they were stood down en-route when the person was detained by local officers.

It is undestood they’ve been taken to a place of safety.
