Dozens of firefighters tackle major cottage blaze in Chippenham

UPDATE: Chippenham cottage destroyed after chip pan left unattended


Dozens of firefighters are battling a major blaze at a property in Chippenham tonight.

Emergency services were called the scene in Cocklebury Lane at around 7pm, where a whole number of cottage appear to be well alight.

At least eight fire crews and an incident command unit are at the scene. Some of the 35 firefighters at the incident have travelled as far as Swindon and Trowbridge to attend.

A water bowser from Royal Wootton Bassett arrived a the scene at 8.40pm.

The British Red Cross emergency fire support unit is en-route to the scene.
