Lines reopen just 70 minutes after person killed at Keynsham station

A person has been killed after being hit by a train at Keynsham station this afternoon.

999 crews were called to the scene at around 3.30pm, but the casualty suffered fatal injuries.

Services between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington, including Chippenham, were diverted for around 70 minutes, before the line reopened.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Keynsham station at 3:28pm 19/2 after a report that a person had been struck by a train.

“Officers from BTP attended alongside paramedics, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.  The incident has been declared non-suspicious.”
