Police investigate head-on crash which injured three in Wroughton


A road in Wroughton has reopened following a serious road traffic collision this morning.

The head-on crash happened in Wharf Road at around 7.45am, sparking a major emergency service response – including specialist medics from Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service worked to free one casualty who was trapped.

Three people were injured. One casualty was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, whilst two with less serious injuries were taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

Wharf Road, between Mill Lane and Hay Lane, was closed for over five hours, reopening at 1pm.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance Service said: “We sent various resources to attend the incident, including a land ambulance crew and an air ambulance crew.

“Our crews treated four patients at the scene, and three were taken to hospital by land ambulance for further care.”

Traffic officers at the scene are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dashcam footage of the crash, to contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101 immediately.
