12-year-old boy sexually assaulted while sheltering from rain in car park

A 12-year-old boy was sexually assaulted while taking shelter from the torrential rain in Swindon town centre yesterday.

The victim, along with six friends, were said to be inside the Whalebridge Car Park on Islington Street at around 4.45pm on Saturday, when he was approached by a man who pushed him before grabbing at his crotch.

The incident was reported to the police when the victim informed his mother of the assault, who told Wiltshire 999s that he attack has left her son “really angry”.

She said her son described the suspect as ‘aged in his mid-50s, 5 foot 6 inches tall, with scarring on his face’.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police has confirmed the incident is being investigated.
