50 firefighters from across three counties tackle major house fire

Around 50 firefighters from across three counties – Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire – have been tackling a fire at a home in the Cotswold Water Park this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Waterhay at around 2pm, with the first fire crew arriving just a minutes after the 999 call as they were returning from an incident nearby.

A senior firefighter at the scene told Wiltshire 999s that they had been dealing with a number of complications at the scene and low water pressure in the area hindering their efforts.

A large amount of the home, a double garage, three vehicles and an external heating oil tank were serious damaged in the serious blaze. Luckily, nobody was hurt.

At the height of the incident, ten fire engines, four senior officers and a number of support vehicles were in attendance, according to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesperson said that the crews are used five hose reel jets, two main lines, ladders, foam and an aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.

Two fire engines remain at the scene this evening, but the fire was extinguish at around 5pm.
