Murdered Faringdon schoolboy was ‘stabbed in the chest’

Thames Valley Police has said that a Faringdon schoolboy who was found dead earlier this week died from stab wounds to the chest.

The boy, named locally as Tyler, of primary school age, was discovered in in Bromsgrove Cottages, Faringdon in the afternoon of Tuesday 14 March.

A 40-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder, understood to be the boy’s mother, has been released on bail until 12 April, police say.

A post-mortem carried out by Thames Valley Police yesterday has revealed the cause of death to be stab wounds to the chest.

Senior Investigating Officer, Det Ch Insp, Ailsa Kent of Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: “We continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

“At this time no formal identification has taken place, so I am not able to name the child.

“You will appreciate that this is a difficult time for his family and we continue to work with them and offer support as the investigation continues.”
