Major search operation underway in Salisbury as local man goes missing

A major search operation involving more than 45 volunteers in underway in Salisbury.

61-year-old local man Leon Smigielski was reported missing on Wednesday morning, 27 June, and police say concerns are growing for his welfare.

Police, supported by Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset Search and Rescue, Tri-Force dog units and drones, have been carrying out extensive searches in the Wilton area.

Leon is white, around 5 foot 10 inches tall, of average build, with some tattoos on his hands.

PC Susan Malkinson, from Wiltshire South Community Policing Team, said: “We are urging anyone who has seen Leon or who might have information about where he is, to contact us.

“Also, we are appealing directly to Leon – if you see this message, your family are very worried about you and want to know that you are safe. Please phone someone and let us know where you are.”

Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
