Firefighters still tackling major grass blaze on Salisbury Plain after 24 hours

A major grass fire is being allowed to burn out on Salisbury Plain.

The blaze started at around midday on Friday, with huge plumes of smoke being seen as far away as Bradford-on-Avon and Stonehenge.

It’s understood firefighters aren’t able to tackle the fire in their normal way due to the location of the incident and the risk of unexploded bombs.
