Missing man found following early morning water rescue mission in Swindon lake

A missing man has been found safe and well following an early morning water rescue mission.

Emergency services, including Incident Response Units and Hazardous Area Response Teams from South Western Ambulance Service, were called to the canal off Sunnyside Avenue at around 11.30pm yesterday evening after the high-risk missing person was reported.

A short time later police officers and paramedics were seen conducting a search up and down the canalside behind the Esso garage on Wootton Bassett Road, Kingshill.

Specialist water rescue firefighters were dispatched to search the lake on East Wichel Way. At least ten firefighters were at the scene and involved in the operation.

After the search, the missing man was found safe and well, Wiltshire Police said.
