A fundraising page has been set up to raise money to give to a Durrington family who have lost their home after a serious fire broke out at the property this morning.

Firefighters from south Wiltshire and Hampshire responded to the blaze on Windsor Mews, but were unable to save the family’s possessions – most of which were totally destroyed.

It’s believed their pet cat also died in the blaze.

Daniel Jae Webb, reporter at Wiltshire 999s, said: “We’ve set up this GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for the family affected by today’s devastating house fire.

“While no humans were injured when the blaze broke out, I did understand that their pet cat died. That, coupled with the loss of a home and memories within, is likely to have a life-long affect on the family. We wanted to do something to help alleviate some of the stress and upset.”
