65-year-old woman seriously hurt after being hit by car in Amesbury

A 65-year-old woman has been seriously hurt after being hit by a car in Amesbury.

Numerous 999 crews, including Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, were called to the road traffic collision near Lidl on London Road shortly before 8am today (Wednesday).

Wiltshire Police originally said that a six-year-old child was involved in the incident, but has since provided an update – confirming the casualty was in fact an adult.

The injured woman, believed to be 65 years old, was taken to Salisbury District Hospital for treatment for serious leg injuries.

The road is closed by the police in both directions between the Tesco roundabout and Porton Road/Solstice Park Avenue.
