53-year-old Bristol man killed in single-vehicle crash on M4 near Swindon

A man’s died in a single-vehicle crash on the M4 near Swindon last night.

At 7.15pm, police were called to reports of the road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between Junctions 16 and 17.

The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old man from the Bristol area, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The westbound stretch of the M4 between Junctions 16 and 17 was closed for six hours whilst specially trained officers carried out a collision investigation.

“We’re asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to contact us on 101 and quote reference number 235 of yesterday (18/01)”, a police spokesperson said.
