50 metre cordon in place after explosive device found in Devizes

A 50 metre cordon was established around a explosive device found in Devizes.

Wiltshire Police received a call shortly after 11.30am on 2 June, after a suspected WW2 hand grenade was discovered on a construction site in Lower Wharf.

A the time, a police spokesperson said: “A 50 metre cordon has been put in place and boats are being stopped from passing the site, which is on the water’s edge. We are in the process of making the item safe and will notify you when cordons are lifted.”

The device was disposed of and the area reopened later in the afternoon.
