26-year-old man who fell from Swindon footbridge dies in hospital

A young man who fell from a footbridge in Swindon on Saturday afternoon has died.

Air ambulance critical care medics were called to the scene in Westfield Way at around 1.30pm, where 26-year-old Ryan Veitch suffered life-threatening injuries when he fell to the ground.

He was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol but doctors pronounced him dead on Sunday.

His mother, Kerry, who said Ryan has previously fallen from the same bridge on two other occasions and suffered from mental health issues, has launched a JustGiving page to raise money to help pay for his funeral and give him a final send-off.

The former Crowdys Hill School student leaves behind one brother and four sisters.
